Webster's Dic. -
TRUST means: a firm belief in the honesty, reliability
of another; confident expectation, hope; to have faith, to commit;
to believe, to rely on; -- to name of few of the meanings.
2 Samuel 22:3 (NKJV)
The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and
the horn of my salvation,
My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence.
hacah, Hebrew 2620, Strong's
chacah, khaw-saw';
a primitive root; to flee for protection [compare Hebrew 982
(batach)]; figurative to confide in :- have hope, make refuge,
(put) trust.
The entire chapter of II Sam. 22: is very interesting to read.
It gives you many good reasons to make up your mind to TRUST
God for whatever you need.
Psalm 37:1-4 (NKJV)
A Psalm of David.
Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers
of iniquity.
[2] For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither
as the green herb.
[3] Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed
on His faithfulness.
[4] Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you
the desires of your heart.
The entire chapter of Psalm 37: is such an encouragement to
help us understand that God is our source for all the circumstances
of life. The question we have to answer is;
Will we make the choice to believe that God's love and provision
are very sufficient?
Proverbs 3:1-6 (NKJV)
My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;
[2] For length of days and long life And peace they will add
to you.
[3] Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your
neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart,
[4] And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and
man.
[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your
own understanding;
[6] In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your
paths.
If you can take the time to read the entire chapter of Proverbs
3: - you will surely notice that there are conditions to being
able to trust in God and expect His provision and His protection
from the enemy of your soul. Trusting God to be your source
for all your needs requires that you learn and obey the Kingdom
principles.
There is also the question: can God trust you to walk in the
ways of the laws and principles of the Kingdom of God? II
Tim.2:15 (KJV) tells us to "Study" to be approved
of God and gain a right understanding of His WORD. It takes
prayer and reading the Bible, and attending a good church that
teaches Scriptural doctrines.
You might say that all the above references are from the Old
Testament. Yes, here is where we find the foundation for the
New Testament, which gives more examples and explanations and
examples of being able to learn to Trust God for all things.
Matthew 6:25-34 (NKJV)
"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about
your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about
your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food
and the body more than clothing? [26] Look at the birds of the
air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet
your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than
they? [27] Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his
stature? [28] So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the
lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
[29] and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory
was not arrayed like one of these. [30] Now if God so clothes
the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown
into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little
faith? [31] Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?'
or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' [32] For
after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly
Father knows that you need all these things. [33] But seek first
the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things
shall be added to you. [34] Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for
the day is its own trouble.
Notice the admonition to NOT WORRY
.. Why? Because
worry is just the opposite of TRUST! You simply cannot
entertain worry and also decide to trust at the same time.
You must make a choice - to believe that God is your source
of supply, or let the devil persuade you that God is either
not able, or simply does not care about all these little things
that make up your daily circumstances. By reading and studying
we come to the conclusion that God is most certainly interested
in all that concerns you and He is most certainly able to meet
your needs.
Sometimes, we must sort out what is a NEED or what is
a desire for our own pleasure and comfort. He has not promised
to meet all our wishes, but in Phil. We find this:
Philip. 4:19 (KJV)
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches
in glory by Christ Jesus.
As you take time to read through the 4 Gospels and all the
Epistles of Paul, Peter, James, etc. take a note book and write
down the numerous times that God met needs that seemed impossible
to human ability. Reading the Scripture will build your faith
in the God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all
that we can imagine. See
John 10:10 - Eph. 3:20
If you can do a word
search on the word abundantly, it will be a gold mine of God's
goodness to those who will walk according to His will.
