THE BIBLE - THE WORD OF GOD

THE BIBLE

The one Book, the only Book, the great Book, God's Book, your Book for eternity: The Book you must have, the Book you badly need.
Oh, if you miss this Book, you miss everything. If you keep out of this Book, you keep out of the Life of God. If you fail to read it, if you fail to devour it, if you fail to understand it, you fail in everything that is worth having.
God is in this Book. It is the Book of all books. It is the necessity of every soul. Get into this Book. Pray over it. Get it into your mind. Live it, obey it, and it will deliver you from the world, the flesh, and the devil. It will be your passport into glory.
The truth of God's Word is the illuminator of the believer's mind and also the sword - the knife - with which the Holy Ghost strips the veil off the old, natural mind, bit by bit, as we allow Him to do the work.
It is only as the Word - not man's word, but God's own Word - penetrates the mind, which has been veiled by Satan that the veil is destroyed and the mind renewed.
The renewing of the mind is a gradual process, accomplished as the Word of God penetrates, and takes possession of it, requiring waiting on God and spending as much time alone with Him and in the Word as you can.

Bible Dic. - The Hebrew word "davar" means a thing said. The Greek word "logos" means "a thing to be said", stressing the thought in the mind of the speaker; "rhema", the thing said, the expression. "Logos" is used of Jesus as the Revelation of God. (John 1:1 -Heb. 1:2 - Rev. 19:13)
Before He came into the world, the WORD of GOD came to men through patriarchs, (Gen.15:1) & through the lawgiver Moses. (Ex.4:30 -20:1) & through the prophets (Num. 22:38 - II Kings 7:1 - Isa 1:10 - Jer. 1:2) ……………………………………………………………………………………………………
Below is a summary of reasons taken directly from the Bible to help us understand the great importance of this book called the BIBLE and its impact on the lives of people who read and study it to become the citizens of God's Kingdom in this life and for Eternity.
There is also a very great negative impact on the lives of people, who for whatever reason, will choose to ignore this book and the multitude of benefits it offers each one.
Please take the time to seriously consider the rewards - or the consequences………

WHY IS THE BIBLE SO VERY IMPORTANT?

It is the BOOK of all ages…..

OLD TESTAMENT: Psalm 119:89 (KJV) For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV) The grass withers, the flower fades: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
NEW TESTAMENT: Matthew 5:18 (KJV)
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 24:35 (KJV) Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

It is food for the soul…..

O. T. -Deut. 8:3 (NKJV) And he humbled you, and allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man shall not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.
Psalm 119:103 (KJV) How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
N.T. -1 Peter 2:2 (KJV) As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

It is Divinely Inspired…..

O. T. -Jeremiah 36:2 (NKJV) Take a scroll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even into this day.
N. T. -Acts 1:16 (NKJV) Men and brethren, this scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.
2 Tim. 3:16 (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Peter 1:21 (NKJV)
For prophecy never came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Its Precepts to be written in the heart….

O. T. - Deut. 6:6 (KJV)
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
Psalm 119:11 (KJV) Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
N. T. -Romans 10:8 (KJV) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Col. 3:16 (KJV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

It is the LIGHT of God in a dark world…..

O. T. - Psalm 19:8 (KJV) The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psalm 119:105 (KJV) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Proverbs 6:23 (KJV) For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
N. T. - 2 Peter 1:19 (KJV) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

The Word is loved by all the saints…..

O. T. - Psalm 119:72 (KJV) The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
Psalm 119:97 (KJV) O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Jeremiah 15:16 (KJV) Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.

The Word is mighty in its influence…..

O. T. - A Devouring Flame & A Crushing Hammer: (Jer.5:14) Jeremiah 23:29 (KJV)
Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

A Life-giving Force: Ezekiel 37:7 (KJV)
So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

N. T. - A Saving Power: Romans 1:16 (KJV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

A Defensive Weapon: Ephes. 6:17 (KJV) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

A Probing Instrument: Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and
intents of the heart.

O.T. - A Blessing To Those Who Reverence It: Joshua 1:8 (KJV) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

N. T. - Matthew 7:24 (KJV) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Luke 11:28 (KJV)
But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Rev. 1:3 (KJV)
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

O. T. - The Word Purifies the Life…… Psalm 119:9 (KJV) Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
N. T. - John 15:3 (KJV) Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Ephes. 5:26 (KJV) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.

If you are serious about studying the Bible find a translation that you feel is easy to read, and find a Bible Concordance and a Bible Dictionary and take the time to find out the meaning of words you are unfamiliar with. The New Kings James Version is a good translation to start with, but a comparison with other versions is most interesting.
Find a church that believes the WHOLE BIBLE, and has a Bible class with other believers so you can ask questions and get answers that are in agreement with the Bible, which will interpret itself if you learn how to use your concordance and cross-reference certain words that are found in other places of the Bible. You must pray that God -who is the author - will give you Divine light and understanding of HIS WORD.

May God come to you as you open His Word and begin your journey to a new level of life and Kingdom principles. He is not willing that any one should perish (John 3:15-16),
but it is necessary that you make the right choice. Come to Him now - why wait???
